The cast of the helmeted Athena is a bust adapted from a full-size Roman copy of the so-called Giustiniani type of the 5th c. BC, housed in the Vatican Museums, Rome. The sculpture was found in Rome on the Esquiline Hill in the 17th c. and belonged to the collection of Vincenzo Giustiniani in the Palazzo Giustiniani.
