Description
Relief figure of kneeling satyr facing right with left arm stretched up to grape vine and right arm less strongly bent; well muscled body in baroque style with cloak tied at neck and curving down back to just above small tail; bearded with full head of curly hair, articulation of eye by rounded depression, and open mouth. In front of and above head of satyr bunches of grapes. Figure rests on low raised border beneath which flat, apparently undecorated band extends to finished edge of plaque. Patch of green paint on body, probably modern.
State of Preservation
Main portion square with triangular projection from upper side. Mended from 3 pieces with stabilizing painted plaster at both side edges. Left edge, where preserved, finished; traces of finished edge along badly battered bottom border; other edges broken. Some chipping of surface with large hole over grit below right knee.
